    Description:
Optical sculpture influenced by architecture and ubiquitous furniture design.

One of three student works purchased from the 'Select 2011' exhibition, held for the Art Acquisition Committee student awards. Award selected by guest judge Justin Paton. Artist statement: 'Drawing by design, I endeavour to parallel the concept of pre-fabricated furniture with sculpture ? IKEA inspired artworks that remain an all-original, one of many. Influenced by architecture and ubiquitous furniture design, my work fluctuates between giving and taking to the viewer both pragmatically and metaphorically. While some works are left for the viewer to assemble, others require time to be understood, but in both senses they invite play ? teasing optically and mentally to engage the viewer interactively and make sense of what is before them.'
