Description:
This art work was produced during her inclusion in SCAPE Public Art, 2021, focusing on the history of the area known now as Hagly Park before and after colonial settlement, in particular an instance of horticultural korenga (absence).
Novak's work has focused on escapism, utopias and idealism within a capitalist, postcolonial and institutionalised society, frequently working outside of traditional gallery spaces and collaborating with other artists. Her work is often research and project based, drawing out indigenous and local histories that have been forgotten or suppressed.
